The Organisations
The British Association for Screen Entertainment (BASE), and Digital Entertainment Group International (DEGI) champions the Home Entertainment category and covers all legal routes for audience consumption of film and TV, including digital and physical transactional, subscription and ad funded and FAST channels. This is an ever evolving and fast-growing sector, which in the UK contributed £4.9 billion to the economy in 2023.
Our members include the biggest names in entertainment including Amazon, BBC, BT/EE, Lionsgate, NBC Universal, Sky Store, Sony Pictures, Studiocanal, Virgin Media, Walt Disney Studios, Warner Bros Discovery, amongst others. Our remit has evolved with category change, and this is an incredibly exciting time of vision and growth for the sector and the organisation.
Our role as a trade body is to inform and support the category and to represent its interests collectively to audiences, trade and consumer media, Government, and other industry organisations and partners.
Our primary areas of focus are:
- Providing and procuring insights and research
- Category stability and growth
- Celebration and events
- Fostering community and networking
- Consumer education
Illustrations of our activity:
- We host summits and leadership forums in the UK and across Europe.
- We write and publish market reports and research papers, statements, and press releases.
- We run consumer promotions online, in stores and across social media channels.
- We host events and parties.
- And much more…
Everything we do is heavily informed by research, behavioural insights and up to the moment market data, and is fundamentally driven by our members’ interests.
A small dynamic team of 10, we support each other in an exciting, fast-paced, and intellectually stimulating and rigorous environment. We come together as a team twice a week, often on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and we primarily work remotely outside of those days.
In addition to BASE and DEGI, is The Industry Trust for IP Awareness, that forms an integral part of the team deliverables. The Trust is a consumer education body focused on tracking piracy, providing regular threat assessments to members and Government and creating and implementing influential behaviour change initiatives. We work with high profile partners and lead a collaborative approach with all the prominent actors in the anti-infringement space.
